Day 8

I was doing some organizing today and wanted to make some labels for a couple of binders.  I used my alphabet craft punches to cut out the letters and make the labels.  Instead of lining up the letters and taping them on, as I used to do, I just used the paper that I cut the letters out of.  I added some black paper behind to make it easier to read.

I liked how it looked to have a little of the black showing behind.

After I finished, I thought the letters looked kind of neat, so I took a picture of them. 

Later in the day, I went to the museum with my niece.  She was drawing in one of the rooms, 

so I drew her, drawing.  

Day 7

I have a little time before I go to dinner with some friends.  I'm at the Apple store and decided to do a quick sketch.

The apple is in honor of Apple, obviously, for allowing me to add to my blog on the go, and in the spirit of the movie I'm going to see tonight.

Day 6

Feeling a little blue today.  I decided to draw Sally for today's Artventure.

Day 5

While trying to decide what I wanted to do for today's Artventure, I realized that I put far too much emphasis on trying to pick out the perfect project.  I think part of it is that I do want the final product to look halfway decent, which is probably normal, but I may go a little far.  I'm going to work on just picking something and going for it.  I want to have fun with the process and not get stressed out over the choice.  

Once I got through the aforementioned debate, I decided to make Beaker, one of the Muppets, out of construction paper.

Day 4

My sister and I took about an hour long scenic drive today and stopped at a few fun little places.  I took quite a few pictures and I think a couple of them turned out pretty interesting.

I really enjoy taking close up shots.  

I thought this was an interesting angle.

I think this one would look best in black and white.

My other Artventure for the day was finishing up a Goofy drawing I did a few months ago.

It was just in pencil and I wanted to go over it with black ink.

Day 3

I went to dinner tonight with my family.  There was an hour wait, which wasn't too bad because we could wait outside in the beautiful weather.  I decided to work on my artventure for the day.  There were some dried leaves all along the grassline of the parking lot.  I took a bunch of them and used them to create a picture in one of the empty parking spots.

I loved how so many of the leaves were rolled and worked well to make the lines pretty clear.

I tried to get my foot in the picture so there would be an idea of how big it was.

It was fun to make and was also a good exercise in "goodbye art." 

Day 2

It's getting close to the midnight deadline... (although I'm wondering if I should make the deadline before I go to sleep for the night or if it really should be midnight).

I think sharks are pretty cool animals.  When I went to Sea World with my family back in the 90s, I picked out a shark stuffed animal to take home.  For my artventure of the day, I drew a relatively quick sketch of a bull shark.

I first drew it in pencil and then went over it with my trusty PILOT razor point.  I probably have 10 of those pens.  They're by far my favorite to use when outlining my drawings.  The line is so smooth and they still work great even though I've had them for at least 7 years.

I not only love art, but I also really love to learn new things.  While searching for a photo to draw from, I learned that the study of fish is called Ichthyology.  Good to know!  :)
