Day 15

Today I did a sketch of a German Shepherd-ish dog.  

It's hard to decide, sometimes, whether I would like to stick with a pencil sketch or use my pens to outline.  

Day 14 (Two weeks already!)

I love rainy nights.

I'm getting into the Halloween and Fall spirit.  I love this time of year.  For my Artventure today, I used construction paper to make a night scene with bats.  I didn't have any grey construction paper, so I was looking through a magazine to find some grey to cut out.  I ended up coming across a grey cloud instead, which worked out even better!

I used a bat punch that I had found on clearance last Fall.  The fifty cents I spent were well worth it!

Day 13

I was inspired by a toilet for today's Artventure.  My goal was to take objects I found around the house and try to create the form of something else.

I used a little card box, a measuring cup, and the lid to a tub of gum pieces.

I even added real water just for fun.

If I had had more time, it might have looked better, but I think it was a good exercise for being able to do something like this on a larger scale another time.  

This morning the sun was coming in the window in the perfect spot to shine into my eyes.  That was a good thing.  I've been wanting to get a good shot of my iris for a while.

I saw a macro photograph someone had taken of an iris.  I was surprised at what they actually look like when you see such a close up shot.  I finally got some good lighting to take a picture of mine.

It turned out alright, but I wish it would've been more clear.

Day 12

I saw a box of popcorn and decided to draw a piece of popcorn.  At first, I thought about painting it, but decided to draw it in chalk on my driveway instead.  I couldn't find any chalk when I went outside though, so I decided to use a good old fashioned pencil and paper.  The thing about drawing popcorn is that it never really looks like anything.  I give kudos to anyone that can draw one piece of popcorn and have someone know what it is right away.  I love popcorn, though, so I drew it.

A shadow would probably help a lot.

While scanning the drawing, I decided to scan my hand.  It wasn't as fluid as I'd hoped it would've turned out.  I wanted it to look like a ten finger and one thumb hand.

There are some pretty neat images on the internet from people that use scanners as cameras.

A friend of mine had surgery on her elbow.  I made her a get well card.  I like to buy packs of blank cards when I see them on clearance.  They're perfect to use for making your own cards.

It's okay if they have a pattern.  You can always cover it up if you'd like.

I used my cat puncher to add some decoration on the inside of the card.

The sunset today was really beautiful.

And on the way home, I saw two bucks grazing by the side of the road and then cross.

Day 11

My Artventure for today involves scribbles.  Sometimes in our down time at work, my coworker will scribble something on a piece of paper.  She'll then give it to me and my task is to try to draw something using that scribble.

If I do the scribbles again, I'll try to have the original scribble and the drawing after be 

different colors so they'll be more distinguishable.

My favorite of the day was of "sad dog."

I love this game.  Not only is it fun, but it helps me to get ideas for characters without the pressure of having to think too hard.  When I try to come up with characters on my own, I always feel like it has to be perfect.  This works well, because it's quick and easy, and I can do the refining and perfecting later.

The scribble drawing could be like a first rough draft of a character.  

I used some construction paper to make a second draft of "sad dog."  There still are more changes that should be made, but even just from scribble to colored paper, it's an improvement.

Day 10 (Double digits!)

What a day!  I was inspired in so many different ways today.  First, as I was driving to church this morning, I saw three cranes, which looked to be parents with their young crane (called a colt, as the internet just told me), grazing along with some geese.  I had to try to get some pictures.

I'd love to get a camera that could zoom in farther and be really clear, but for now, I think my camera still takes some pretty decent pictures, especially since I've had it for probably 6 years.

Then later, I was using a glue gun and some of the glue had oozed out into a glob.  

I added some more on, attempting to make some sort of shapes.  

I wasn't successful.  It looks a bit like a morbidly obese ice skating penguin with a long tail.  I'm sure with lots of practice, someone could make cool stuff with hot glue.  I searched a little on the internet and found a tree made from hot glue on this blog:

Definitely cool.

Later we decided to have a bonfire outside.  I absolutely love fire.  I get so enthralled by it, I could probably stare at it for hours.  I tried using a slower shutter speed on my camera while my sister and I used burning marshmallows.  

They weren't burning consistently or long enough, though, 

so I just used the fire for a while to get some interesting shots.

The fire has gone to bed and so must I.

Day 9

I couldn't believe how beautiful it was outside today.  I had to take some pictures, 

but they never seem to do justice.

I was going for a drive and every time I got a good view I would pull to the side.  It happened quite often.  The clouds were so great, and the greens and blues were so beautiful.

About a month or so ago my keypad cover for my computer ripped.  

I found it while going through some stuff today and thought it might be fun to use the letters to make something.  I cut out a few of the letters and used construction paper for a background.

Then I added some stars using a star punch.  

It's time for me to dream now!
