Some ticks use a method known as "questing" to find a host.
They climb onto a piece of grass, or something similar, and outstretch their legs, like a baby wanting to be picked up by its mother. When an animal, or human, passes by, they grab on and keep holding.
Eventually, they climb around the host, finding a good place to feed.
Ticks are actually arachnids, which include spiders, but also scorpions, chiggers and mites.
